  • Duration 6 sessions

  • Level Beginner — no previous experience needed

  • For Parents on maternity leave, with their babies

Make space for clay and creativity during your maternity leave, with your baby alongside you. Across six sessions, you’ll learn the foundations of wheel throwing in a setting where feeding, changing, and comforting your baby are a natural part of the day.

Our instructor will guide you through centering the clay and shaping your first forms. With time to practise and individual help along the way, you can gradually build your confidence and explore pieces such as bowls, cups, and small vases.

The course gives you something to return to across your maternity leave: a technique to develop, a piece to work on, and familiar faces in the studio. You can join on your own or book with someone you know.

Room for you and your baby

There are play mats for your baby and facilities for warming milk or food. You can take breaks when your baby needs you and return to your work when you’re ready.

Alongside your wheel throwing, there’s also the opportunity to make a small keepsake in clay, such as an impression of your baby’s foot.

After the course, we’ll glaze and fire your finished pieces, ready for you to collect and use at home.
