Collection: Solenne Belloir

Solenne Belloir is a ceramic artist from Paris, her inspirations come above all from nature and the streets. 

"All plants, especially their stems and branches, are at the origin of the handles, a recurring component in my creations, just as much as the human-made elements, pipes that run along with the buildings like immense creepers that surround the city, up to the chimneys that crown Parisians roofs."

Solenne sees her creations as hybrid creatures between ancient and futuristic. When designing a piece, she likes to combine two opposite concepts; part of the sculpture must be anchored to the ground, while its end must want to fly away. It is essential that her handles are perfectly incorporated into the piece; rooted in it as if they had grown by themselves, showing that organic aspect that is dear to her. These handles that extend around her pieces, allow her to build a sphere, fragile armor that imposes an empty space, a breath.

Technically, Solenne works with different high-temperature clays, often with grog, alternating between white sandstone and black sandstone or by coloring the clay. She alternate between wheel throwing and modeling which allows her to combine different types of shapes and to explore more and more the endless possibilities of clay.
