Frequently Asked Questions
What can I make with the clay?
Almost anything you can imagine! Popular projects include mugs, bowls, jewellery dishes, candle holders, vases, sculptures, ornaments, and decorative home accessories. The tutorials included with YONOBI Home will guide you through a variety of beginner-friendly projects and techniques.
How long will the clay last?
This really depends on the climate where you are. It is best used within 2 months. The clay package can be stored for up to 4 months when stored in an airtight bag or container to keep it workable for longer. If your clay starts to dry out, you can often revive it with a little water and kneading.
How many things can I make?
The Home Bundle includes one free glazing & firing session at YONOBI studios. However, you can choose to divide the clay to make 2-3 smaller pieces! As a guide, our clay is perfect for a large mug or cereal bowl, or 2 cortado cups. Please note that additional items have an ‘extra firing’ fee.
Can I start over if I messed up?
Yes, as long as the clay hasn’t turned leather hard, you can often start over. Once a piece has been dried to another state, it will be difficult to reverse. If the clay is still wet, you can start over by compressing the clay, adding a little water and start kneading the clay to remove any air bubbles formed. Finally, smoothen the clay so you start with a fresh ball.
Is it for beginners?
Absolutely. YONOBI Home is designed for complete beginners as well as experienced makers. The included online tutorials provide step-by-step guidance, inspiration, and tips, making it easy to get started even if you've never worked with clay before.
How do I get my pieces fired and glazed?
Once you've finished creating, simply bring your pieces back to any YONOBI studio location. We'll hand glaze and fire them so they become food-safe, waterproof, and ready to be enjoyed for years to come.
What if I don’t live near a YONOBI location?
YONOBI Home can be enjoyed wherever you are. Depending on your location, shipping time may vary. Once your pieces are finished, you can also choose to have your work fired and glazed at a local ceramics studio of your choice. Please check available firing rates at your preferred studio. As YONOBI continues to grow, we're building a network of partner studios to support makers in more locations around the world.
